Story of stemning

Hi, my name is Sydney!

I've been lucky enough to work with flowers in pretty much every way possible—from intimate backyard weddings to major corporate events, and everything in between. There was always this little voice in my head saying "What if?" What if I created a space where I could push the boundaries a bit further? Where I could blend my love for art and fashion with the natural beauty of flowers?

Stemning Blooms is that dream come to life—my own little corner of Ottawa where I get to create floral designs that make people look twice (in a good way, I promise).

A young woman stands outdoors among pink hydrangea bushes, smiling at the camera. She wears a white shirt with rolled-up sleeves, a light blue scarf tied around her neck, and a yellow pleated skirt, with sunlight illuminating her hair.

Creativity is king.

I've always been drawn to doing things differently. While I deeply respect traditional floristry, I get most excited when creating sculptural pieces that challenge what flower arrangements "should" look like. I find myself continuously inspired by the clean lines of ikebana (Japanese floral art), the bold statements in contemporary art galleries, and the ever-changing world of fashion.

When I'm designing, I see flowers as building blocks for something bigger—each stem has a purpose, and each space between blooms tells part of the story. It's not just about making things look pretty (though that's definitely part of it!). It's about creating moments, starting conversations, and bringing unexpected joy to spaces.

Bringing Ideas To Life

Every project starts with a conversation—I want to know what excites you, what inspires you, and what you're dreaming of. From there, we'll work together to create something that doesn't just meet your expectations but completely exceeds them.
